Faith Quilt: Inspirational Jewish Women (Collaborative quilt)
©2006 by Steffi Aronson Karp, Waban 17'x6'
(detail from) This collaborative quilt in 6 panels is one of the 57 Boston Faith Quilts exhibited in April 2006 at the Boston Center for the Arts. Each work represents collaborative community fiber art in a faith community. For this piece, QC Member Steffi Aronson Karp worked with more than 70 women to create squares dedicated to the women who have inspired Judaism. The entire work was the centerpiece of the Brandeis Women Studies Research Center Sukkot (Harvest Festival) celebration in October 2005. Co-sponsors Brandeis University, Mayyim Hayyim Community Mikveh, the Pomegranate Guild of Judaic Needlework. Overall design by Steffi Aronson Karp. Squares completed by a team of women led by Steffi Aronson Karp that included fellow QC Members Louise Glassner Cohen, Diana Galson-Kooy, and Karen Mondell. Machine Quilted.
