Elin Noble: "Alternative Marbling: The Basics"
Skill Level: No dye or paint experience necessary
Supply List
Class List Saturday 1/23 Updated 1/4/10
Class List Sunday 1/24 Updated 1/4/10

Experience the “oh wow” moments when the paint attaches to the cloth, freezing exotic imagery that is reminiscent of microscopic views of cells, geological forms, and cosmic observations. This class offers a fresh approach to the age-old tradition of floating paint on water and transferring the image to paper or cloth. This class focuses on the principles of surface tension and how to float color, understanding the relationship between the different surfactants to aid floating color, how to mix color, and many pattern manipulation techniques. Material Fee +/- $40

Ami Simms: "String Quilting"
Skill Level: Beginning, Intermediate
Supply List
Class List Saturday 2/20
Class List Sunday 2/21 Updated 1/4/10

Here’s a new twist on a time-honored technique to use up all your scraps. You won't work quite as hard as our foremothers did, but you'll come up with a terrific quilt top in a fraction of the time thanks to speed cutting and piecing techniques. You'll create patches from "stringed" fabric (narrow strips of fabric sewn together to make "new" fabric) and sew them with solid fabric patches to make blocks. This is a great workshop for fabric you've already got on hand, no matter what color. You'll get three block patterns and make one in class.
